PANTONE CVC vs C

Postby jordyap » Wed Oct 19, 2011 10:38 am

Hello, what is the difference between pantone CVC and C?
I have recieved an illustrator file with a 1905CVC pantone, if i change this pantone for 1905C the color on my monitor changes so much.
Also i searched these pantones in my spot colors libraries (Illustrator CS5) and I didn't find it.

Thank you

Hi Jordy,

Apparently that is a reference from a very old formula guide and shouldn't be used.

The formula for the ink probably hasn't changed, but each revision is generally printed on a different substrate, thus giving a different colour.

Best Regards,

Fred.

Also, make sure that you are actually viewing the spot colour, not the CMYK breakdown of that colour.

You might find the original colour was never supplied as a spot, but as a CMYK breakdown which would explain the difference as well.

From the swatches palette, open the 'Spot Colour Options' window and select Lab.
