"I would like to express my great satisfaction with pressSign software. There have been only a handful of technologies that have created quantum leaps in quality and ease in my 17 year prepress career, the use of prinergy along with the advent of CTP machines to list a few. PressSign has been an easy nomination to that list. It affords many benefits to the company who applies it’s easy to use features.

I have found that we can now footprint our press at any time and as many times as we like. A feat that would require a day of press time to be scheduled and a third party vendor to be called in to be assured it was done correctly. Once it was done we would rely on that foot print and the curves associated with it to keep us on the right track for a whole year.

We don't know how we survived with that way of thinking. No wonder we saw the amount of problems that we saw. No one curve works for all substrates.

But what are you going to do? Now with pressSign it's not only possible to footprint and any time it's actually easy. We now have a quality control system with pressSign's grading. We have set up the best standards that we think we should be achieving and now we know for a fact that we are hitting those standards.

Density is only one pillar of the printing pantheon. Color (Lab), dot gains, ink traps, and gray balance are all required to hold up the integrity of a print run. For 17 years we only cared about density! How ignorant we were. Now we can see all aspects that make up the run.

We can now trouble shoot, on the fly, if press conditions have changed based on all the information we receive. We can adjust our curve on the fly for different substrates to match our proof when it’s absolutely crucial. For example when you have a press check and the color must be perfect. We don’t have to guess on what curve adjustment to make any more.

I can go on and on about this software, but the number one thing it has created is time. What do you do when you have a job that ran one day at a certain density but doesn’t match a month later with those same densities? You can waste a whole day like we have many times messing with density or you can just spend 15 minutes making curve adjustments that pressSign tells you? We have encountered this new remedy and are blown away at the results.

Now a days CTP machines are the norm at every print shop. Those printers that didn’t jump on that technology are non existent. This is one of those technologies and are just common sense when you see it and if you don’t think you need it I believe you will be falling behind all the printers that will have it because they know it’s 100% necessary.

"I found the update to version 3 of pressSIGN to be a real improvement and I'm really appreciative of the new features.
Working for a large book publisher the database functionality makes perfect sense. With many controllers placing print orders at lots of different printers this means that we will easily have a way to call up, filter and compare sampled print jobs for a variety of sources.
After a short demo and a few guidelines on how to set up new jobs and run reports, Controllers here will now be able to easily measure sheets themselves and so be more involved and have more understanding of the quality control process.
Being able to add comments to jobs is also a benefit, I used them to note which sheet was tested.

"Creo que pressSIGN es una herramienta imprescindible en una imprenta porque te permite saber datos que la maquina de impresion no te da. Yo con esta herramienta puedo saber que la densidad para esa tinta es la correcta, que ganancia de estampacion me est dando la maquina (por loque puedo tocar cauchos o planchas) si el equilibrio de grises escorrecto, si el papel esta dentro de la ISO, el traping, etc, vamosque es una herramienta (sabiendola utilizar) imprescindible para cualquier taller de impresin.

P.D. Con esta herramienta lo que se consigue es atacar el problema directamente sin dar rodeos o empezar a pensar que es una cosa o laotra. Nosotros con este sistema hemos ganado mucho tiempo y dinero. Ylo ms importante poder imprimir segn la ISO 12647/2.

"En cuanto a pressSIGN, la verdad que es un programa bastante completo para realizar un buen seguimiento de la colorimetra, de la masa de los colores de cuatricoma, sobreimpresiones, la curva de reproduccin tonal o ganancia de punto y la homogeneidad de entintado a lo ancho y largo del pliego as como la estabilidad de la tirada en la maquina y as saber en que estado se encuentran las maquinas, si la ganancia de punto esta bien y a la vez controlar el estado de las planchas y de esta manera ver posibles fallos o en caso de no haberlos, hacer los ajustes necesarios, para poder imprimir siempre bajo control y tener el mismo resultado en todos los trabajos en caso de tener reimpresiones.

Utilizandlo peridicamente tendrs un impresin Optima y sin sustos, ya que haciendo las lecturas en paralelo que tienen la maquina de imprimir ( Roland, Heidelberg, Etc), tienes un standard de impresin en el cual consigues el pliego Ok en menos tiempo.

En nuestro caso para poder conseguir la Iso 12647-2 y la 12647-7, ha sido esencial, para poder establecer aquellas especificaciones bsicas que condicionan las caractersticas visuales del impreso, as como su rango de tolerancia los parmetros de trabajo en ambas secciones tanto de impresin como preimpresin, y conseguir que la prueba certificada que se le entrega al cliente, es la misma que la impresa, lo cual se consigue una gran calidad y una correcta comunicacin de color entre cada una de las fases del proceso productivo.

"One month before our PSO-ISO 12647 press audit our friends from Ugra informed us that they only certify presses with a scanning measurement system. This was a big problem for us since automated press control systems in the market are a bit pricey for us. Furthermore, to have a working system in our press in a month seems impossible.
We contacted Bodoni and luckily we were able to find a cost-effective solution using an EyeOne Pro, pressSIGN pro, and an extended ruler to scan the color target of a 100cm wide sheet.
It was a huge risk as we were unsure if this low-budget solution will work to our advantage since our PSO certification lies heavily on how well our press operators will be able to adapt to a new system, and most importantly, if the the EyeOne and pressSIGN pro will actually hit the ISO 12647-2 aim points.
A week before the PSO audit we tried using our new "toy" and were completely surprised on the simplicity of this solution. A few minutes from our first scans we can see the press operators grinning in amazement. They are completely guided by the software! That same day we were already producing ISO-compliant press sheets.
A month later, we were informed by Ugra that we passed the PSO certification!!!
We also bought the viewSIGN and proofSIGN to control our other processes.

"PressSIGN pro really is a gift and a must have for all the commercial printers. After buying the pressSIGN pro, not only our make ready time is reduced but it also gives us great confidence in all jobs. We can easily find the problematic area with its detailed report on dotgain values, LAB, gray balance on every individual color and can take necessary action to correct the problem. Plotting a new TVI curve required many hours and dedicated press runs before. With pressSIGN pro we can plot the TVI curve on the go and its really a bonus for us. Now switching the ink is a very easy task too since we can immediately check the ink hue and plot new TVI curve for that ink.
In short pressSIGN pro is truly a masterpiece and also the most economical and best way to control the press. I cannot think of running my press without pressSIGN now.

"Good colormanagement is a must for every reproduction or printing company.
Already in the design stage proper settings and supply's are necessary in order to see and predict the end result, pressSign is for us a very important application.
According to the product description; "Control your press". pressSIGN brings you to the position where it's possible to really control the end result.
With this software you can monitor your press and printing quality according to, for example the ISO standard. In combination with ProofSign you can check proofing and press together which means prediction of the output.
During one quick measurement you can see dotgain values, LAB, gray balance on every individual color. This measurement shows also values which are not in ISO and can be related or to plates, press and supply's. One of the key factors in pressSIGN are the predefined settings, coated, uncoated, yellowish and webcoated settings which can selected when performing measurements Every measurement will be stored in a PDF file so that on every job the settings are being saved under which conditions the job was printed.
Because the press room is being monitored it makes it possible to perform correction on several areas if continuously the same mistake is showing in measurements. In this way instead of walking behind the facts you can immediately solve problems or perform a slight changes in your process in order to maintain a stable en predictable quality.

It is possible to export compensation curves ( CTP /RIP) into applications such as Kodak Harmony or other.
For the GM group, multiple users of pressSIGN ( group of printers) this application in the meantime has became very important due to the information that has been revealed from the presses.

Al van bij het ontwerp zijn de juiste instellingen en materialen nodig om de gewenste kleuren ook in het eindresultaat te zien verschijnen.

Zoals de handleiding al aangeeft:..."Control your press", is ook wat het programma doet.
Met dit programma in handen ben je met weinig inspanning overzicht houden over je pers- en drukkwaliteit. Daarmee samen hangend wordt ook de toon toename gecontroleerd. Ook kunnen kleurproeven met deze applicatie worden gemeten.
Als je plaat lineair is en de juiste volvlak densiteiten bekend zijn, kan je op een snelle wijze je punt toename controleren. Dit natuurlijk per kleur en gerefereerd aan het juiste papier soorten. ( ISO ) Ook meet PressSIGN papierwit, samendruk, primaire inkt kleuren, dit op een droog of nat drukvel.
Met PressSIGN zijn alle meet gegevens inzichtelijk te maken, bijvoorbeeld via een Pdf. Hier op zijn alle gegevens duidelijk af te lezen.
Ook zijn direct de fouten af te lezen, die gerelateerd zijn aan pers, papier, plaat of inkt.

Het mooie is dat met ISO 12647-2 alle papiertypen in het systeem aanwezig zijn. Zo maak je voor elke meting op de verschillende papier soorten een eigen rapport.
Veel terugkerende dezelfde fouten betekend al snel dat er bijvoorbeeld iets mis is met de pers of plaat systeem. Op deze wijze kan je dus snel problemen traceren en verhelpen.
De veelzijdigheid van dit programma is dat er ook workflow gerelateerde belichtingscurven mee gemaakt kunnen worden Prinergy en Harmony curven kunnen vanuit dit programma geexporteerd worden.Nieuwe target curven kunnen weer in Harmony worden importeert.
Een duidelijke handleiding (in Engels) is aanwezig. Dit is dus een applicatie die onmisbaar is in elke Color management workflow.
